Those who forget, never knew, or are hell bent on erasing history are doomed to repeat it.(Updated)

Today, in America there are those on the left who are committed and willing to play the role of the Soviet Commissars in Poland circa April/May 1940. Guess who gets to play the part of the Polish Officer Corps?

  2. And to think the Germans found this site and tried to make propaganda of it. Well, socialist workers parties - always only one more murder away from paradise.

    1. Actually, they didn't find it. Some Polish laborers heard a local story of a mass grave and reported it to the Krauts.

      The irony is they used US POWs to verify these were Poles buried in Russian territory.

    2. Yep, I'd heard about the POWs. I guess the Nazis figured they had no credibility with the rest of the world so needed people who did.

  3. Hey Jeffrey;

    The German Officer Corp knew that this would be blamed on them so they wanted to make sure the blight was laid on who it really did it. Even back then they knew that the Soviets were not to be trusted even though that they were "allies". The NKVD did it to make sure that the Polish were in no position to resist the Soviets in any future endevours, they even wacked the officer cadets, the NKVD were very thorough.

    1. Even before the war, Uncle Joe had already murdered 38 million people. The Krauts were pansies next to the Commies.

  4. And thus the irony of those half wits that want to erase history by toppling statues and changing names of things... dooming themselves to repeat the very mistakes the monuments commemorate!

  6. Jeff,
    Thanks for the education. I hadn't known about this before. I knew the Stalinist Russians were evil, and this only adds to that. And the aspect of the Germans using this for their propaganda .. wow. Just wow.

    1. You are welcome Brad. The "Allies" first tried to pin this on the Germans, but after some forensic investigation, the Germans turned it around on Soviets who actually continued to deny the mass execution until the early 90's. I remember reading around that time that not only did documentation, eye witness accounts, etc. lay the blame on the Soviets, but also the method of execution. the 2007 movie got it right. Almost all were shot once in the back of the head. The Germans would more than likely have machinegunned large numbers of captives together or shot them in the chest using firing squads.

  7. As the Russians pushed westward they were trouncing the Germans and their allies. They arranged for the Poles to rise up and fight the Germans promising to ride to the rescue. Well, the Poles rose up, the Germans ruthlessly put it down, while the Sovs decided to take a breather just east of Warsaw for a while. Thus, what was left of a future threat by the Poles to the Russians were eliminated by the Germans. Ain't them socialist workers just the funniest folks?

  8. The Nazis gave the Soviets some karma for their sins but I'm not sure the right Russians paid and certainly they don't want to talk about it now in Putin's Russia.

    I fear that the lesson has been lost on those that know of it over there and as for over here in the US, they don't care and they can't see where they're headed anyway. I know the Poles remember and they're about the only ones I think still give a damn about living up to NATO agreements.

    Meanwhile, Putin is watching, preparing, and waiting for the next opportunity. He thinks he's better, smarter, and more agile than his predecessors but the real difference is that there is nothing in the West that looks anything like what once deterred Moscow.

  9. "Bloodlands: Europe Between Hitler and Stalin" by Timothy Snyder. Extensively researched and documented from original sources. He tells the whole story of the populations caught in the pincer of two competing systems of socialism.
