I also attempted to recover from one of the worst handovers I ever had at Bernstein's for lunch, after my boss and friend, Bob Goodpaster on leave from Vietnam, had tried to out do the owner of the last French restaurant in the Tenderloin the night before in shooting straight Cognac.
