Snowmeggedon* 2024....

* It's New England. Usually it snows from December to March. Now every storm is

OMG Eleventy!!!1111!!!.

The storm started last night. It wasn't a blizzard. No high winds or trees down, at least around here.

It was long duration and is slowly winding down as I write this at 8pm EST.

There was some banding when it snowed at a good pace then other times just falling snow.

I was surprised when I measured the tally  16"+ depending on what falls for the next couple of hours.

The snowblower is put away with the shovel and the plow guy just finished his final cleanup.

It 's gonna be in the 30s-40s during the week and 40s-50s on Wednesday with heavy rain.

Now it will be mud season, again.

  1. The nephew made $190 tonight getting truckers out of truck stops tonight. He used kitty litter to get them moving. The kid learned a side Hussle from my war stories.

  2. We had under 2” here in central western NJ. Family over near Staten Island had light rain. Friends 12 miles NE had 11”. About the same in southern NY. Go figure.

  4. I've got not much snow here in Calgary, Canada, about 4 inches, but it's going down to -38c (-36.4f) next Saturday.

  6. Three inches in the foothills north of Boise, more expected in a few days. Bring it! Our ski resorts could use the money, and in spring our reservoirs could use the water.

This was the first year in a while we didn't have a white Christmas (got a dusting on the 26th that was pretty, though).

  8. When I estimated the final tally last night from 10 feet away by looking at the buildup on the deck railing, we got well over 12", maybe as much as 14" here in mid New England. Yesterday morning at 7:00 there was 8-9" accumulated and it had mostly stopped snowing. It started back up again ~10-100AM and got really heavy for a couple hours between noon and 3:00PM finally stopping around 7:00PM.

    1. Earlier this PM I was curious about what the actual snow tally was for my town. So I consulted the Great Googley Woogley to see what I could glean. As I surmised with my Mark 1 eyeball at ten feet the total for my town is over 14". Nice to know that the Mark 1 eyeball is still reasonably accurate.

  9. So here's something interesting. I just tried to publish the snow comment attributed to the Man with
No Name about a dozen times and kept getting the "failed to publish comment..." message. Just for shits and giggles, I changed my usual handle to the one above, after rebooting and clearing browser history and still getting the "failed to publish..." message and the comment was accepted.

  11. We’ve got a whole inch on the ground here in Northern Michigan. So glad you’re shouldering the burden and wish you safety and happiness…it’ll be our turn soon enough. 😁😁
