Explosion caught on video damages paper mill; no one hurt
The
operators of a paper mill in Maine say no one was injured in an
explosion that shook the ground and produced a plume of black smoke that
was visible for miles around
I drive by this place on my way to camp. The mill is sprawling. Smells like skunk when the digesters are cooking. If this mill doesn't reopen Jay, Canton, Rumford and Farmington are going to take a severe economic hit as will anyone that cuts trees for a living in northern VT and NH along with Maine. They have thousands of cords of wood piled up in the wood yard on the plant property. BTW, they DON'T make TP there.
I worked in two recycling paper mills and I cannot think of a single thing that could have caused an exposion of this magnatude. Wet paper pulp can produce H2S but it is a deadly compound in all but munite amounts. My best guess would be a Hydrogen explosion, but I've never worked in an ass-wipe mill.
Not a bad theory. If they were processig virgin pulp, it would be just like a grain silo explosion. Any fine particulates can produce an explosion in a confined place.
Hmmm. Looks like the sh*t hit the fan...
ReplyDeleteThat's handy. When everyone shits themselves, they will have plenty of toilet paper to clean up the mess ...
