...........I think the real question should be, what
would have stopped him? What punishment could carry enough weight to
change the man’s mind?
I suggest a death penalty that is carried out in days, not years. What
civil rights does a person have when he violates the rights of others to
live. He has been arrested and proven to be the shooter. I am sure he
has confessed or gone silent. But without a doubt he is guilty. So why
go through the process of the court system? He had rights…before the
shooting.
I say he has waived those rights and has decided to be judged by the
only being that can dole out true justice, and that is his maker. Let
God decide what to do with him, which means put the man down
immediately.

Agreed - if there is absolutely no doubt - as in this case (and that nut that shot Gabby Giffords who has still not been tried) the sooner they are no longer breathing the better. There was a killer in Washington state who demanded to be executed and it STIll took over years to get it done.
ReplyDeleteNo one will ever be able to prove or disprove whether the death penalty is a deterrent or not but one fact is absolutely INCONTROVERTIBLE - they will NOT kill anyone else.
The way it, at least used to be, in Vietnam. If convicted of a capital offense, you get one appeal which is heard in 7 days. If you lose, you are executed in 7 days. You get a bowl of Pho for breakfast, a pencil and paper to write your final words with a cigarette. You are then shot by a firing squad and your family pays for the bullets.
ReplyDeleteJust dump him into general population and have the guards go on their lunch break. Problem solved.
