Well, back to the 1970's. Boy, PT for everyone, from top O10 to E1. I wonder how many outfits will do emassive PT before work or after work or during work? I would like to see all the O's running down the halls of the Pentagon. That would be a sight to behold. Heltau
Amen!!!! In my state, the notional gawd TAG is an overweight, 2g diversity hire general. She got a medical waiver for PT decades ago according to those that worked with her. Advanced through the ranks due to diversity. This shit needs to end now!
When I served in the Navy during the 60's, after boot camp, I can recall doing PT maybe five times over three years and having a PT test once. We kept in shape by playing pickup sports, running a mile or so back to the EM club from school to catch a couple beers before closing and hiking out into the base boonies to go fishing.
I can understand why Pete is taking the tack he is. He's in better shape than probably 70% of the current force, especially the officers above O-3. Remember the Vindman brothers from Trump's first admin.? Neither one was exactly svelte.
As to the "fat generals and admirals", yah for the most part and it's a good unchallengable reason to separate the ass kissers, DEI hires and other ne'er do wells from the O corp.
Anyone wanna take the under on how many REMFs get that PT test passed box checked without actually doing it? "Oh...you put in for leave to go to your sister's wedding? I'll need you to mark that box right there before I can approve that...."
US Navy '73-'81 Never did any PT of any kind on shore or at sea. If we had ever gotten into real combat, there woulda been a lot of heart attacks. Good to see the troopies may get in better shape. OTOH... who the hell at 40 or 50 could perform at the same level as when they were 20? Sounds like encouragement to not stay in the service long-term.
Remember when Barry Hussein fired quite a large bunch of Generals who did not meet his level of depravity? As one of my lady relatives used to say: "Turn about is fair play". With about 3 years/4 months to go Orange Man and his minions had better be cracking, cuz once the d-rats eventually take over there's going to be hell to pay. Bank on it.

Funny, I just read a Guardian article that stated that vets were upset and angered about the speech. I feel about same as everyone here. Navy 88-94.
