I bought a '79 F-150 off the lot, drove it for years, and sold it with over 200,000 miles on the truck. The engine was still strong, the ac worked, and it still had a good body; especially the galvanized bed. I wish I'd never sold it, but had to at the time.
I thought it was gorgeous even before the wash. I thought it was funny he was talking about the overspray, paint runs and orangepeel like it was no big deal back then. That's the type of stuff I touch up before a machine gets shipped. Great story. -lg
1978 was the last year of round headlights in Ford trucks. That pretty much is the only difference between a '78 and '79 grill. My '79 has square headlights. Between those and the grill itself, it just looks more muscular than the '78.

Also, a speedometer that only reads up to 80mph or is indicative of Jimmy Carter's hated but not lamented 55mph National Speed Limit...
ReplyDeleteThanks Leigh, that was really cool. If I owned it I would put a camper on it and use it
ReplyDeleteI'd wait for a little while, Bear Claw.
DeleteThat engine isn't broken in yet!
