  7. Naturally, I am biased, but it doesn't matter where one may be, the song always adds to the atmosphere in positive way. The song was written as a rebuttal to Neil Young's song "Southern Man" that cast Southrons in a bad light. The truth of the matter is that the Lynyrd Skynyrd Band and Neil Young enjoyed a freindly rival and liked to exchange jabs in jest. In the recording of "Sweet Home Alabama", if you listen close you can hear about :55 second mark, just following "I hope Neil Young will remember", producer Al Kooper doing a Neil Young impression and faintly interjects into the recording "Southern Man" into the song. Now go and listen to it! LOL
