The Tartan Army.. Came, Saw, and Conquered....

Thousands of Scottish soccer fans visiting Boston this week for FIFA World Cup 2026 made an unexpected impact: They drank the Samuel Adams Downtown Boston Taproom out of Boston Lager.

The influx of supporters, known as the Tartan Army, arrived in the city for the series of soccer matches and quickly adopted the taproom as a gathering spot.

From Thursday through Sunday, fans "drank us dry" in consuming four times as much Samuel Adams Boston Lager as the taproom typically sells during a four-day holiday weekend, such as the Fourth of July, Boston Beer Co. said.

The demand was so high that the taproom ran out of Boston Lager over the weekend and required an emergency delivery on Saturday morning.

In total, the taproom sold more than 3,000 pints of Boston Lager during the four-day stretch. Staff collected 70 empty kegs on Monday, Boston Beer Co. said.

The downtown location offers 20 beers on tap, including several varieties available only at the taproom. However, Boston Beer Co. said most of the Scottish fans chose Sam Adams's flagship brew.

Additional deliveries have been scheduled this week to keep up with demand, Boston Beer Co. said.

  1. It is sad to see all those Europeans who were told to HATE America having a good time here.
Brussels is going to lock them up the moment they get back.

  3. This is such a big story it made the front page of the NY Post today. The Scottish fans "Tripled St Patrick's day" consumption according the Post.

That's a hell of a story as Bean Town is notoriously drunk on St. Patrick's Day.

Glad they're having a good time. According to another story I read some where else, first time visitors World Cup to the USA LOVE our country a lot more than Demonrats. 'Course it could be due to liberal application of alcohol, but who cares as long as they're having fun.

  6. Back in my college days, the swim team stopped at a mom and pop's dinner and clean them out of all you can eat chicken. Very funny at the time, but I am sure they operated at a loss for a week or two.
