  1. Not worth the risk. Buy from the store instead.

    2. My Old Dentist had a dental assistant that later became his wife. She was an avid Shroom picker. One weekend she went out and picked some Shrooms because they were having a dinner party. She made a dish with Shrooms and ate some of it before hand. She became deathly ill and passed away. She was a so-called expert. Good thing she never got around to serving here guests. Not worth that one mistake

  2. do you know how to tell if a mushroom is edible? It has a can wrapped around it.

    1. Fresh mushrooms are far better. Try the exotic ones. Canned buttons are truly uninspiring.

  3. A girl back in high school used to go mushroom picking with her dad. The whole family was into eating wild things. Mushroom on the front lawn. Her dad said it was mushroom X and so ate it. Turned out to be a Death Angel. He died within 48 hours

    1. Mom lived in Binghamton NY, and the entire family next door died from eating bad shrooms overnight. Get a book. Do yer homework. Three, and three only. Chantrelles, Boletes, and Morels.

  5. I've been known to make mistakes that, on review, were obvious mistakes. No good reason to have gotten it wrong.
So, I would never eat a Shroom from the field that I decided was safe unless a coupla experts agreed.

  7. Yikes! Stay far away, that is an IED "shroom", if it blows while you are near the spores will be all over your clothing and then you will wonder why your pristine front yard is covered in such after the next rainfall.

Move yer feet out'ta there, unless you like spores all over yer shoes.

  10. Spongy underneath means it's a bolete, safe to eat, and nothing poisonous looks like it.

  11. I'm an avid forager. There's a lot of misinformation posted in this thread.

The mushroom is a bolete but too mature for a positive identification.
