There have been legislators escorted from the State House floor by Alabama State Troopers, protesters demonstrating outside, etc. These protesters are upset about the states new redistricting lines. Then there are the antics of some of these representatives and senators who fear losing their seats and all the personal benefits that go with said seat. The cry is racism, Jim Crow, slave/master, etc. It was not racist when they had the "big end of the stick", but now that the lines have been re-drawn to accurately and legally define each district, it appears some of these career politicos and at least one Congress critter may lose their seat(s). It is also interesting to see the RINOS go to great lengths to appear as being "anti-racial" and making amends and excuses. Knowing the nature of career politicians, I predict some of these will probably cave before this said and done. Below are a couple of the "entertaining" episodes. I truly pity the folks who suffer under such incompetent representation.
'Crazy Ass Uncle Tom': Democrat State Rep. Juandalynn Givan says Clarence Thomas 'sold us back into the hands of the master'(her screeching rant is in the link)
Story
The dems can NEVER hold power in any way, shape or form EVER AGAIN! They have become marxists and marxists are not people. They are property of the state, self admittedly.
ReplyDeleteMs. Jaundalynn is a racist and the epitome of "Hoes Mad!". F her in the head with a .45!

Good luck to you folks in Alabama, those of us elsewhere wish you well.
ReplyDeleteWe've got the same thing here in TN. I can't feel good about this situation, I just can't. The whole idea of gerrymandering is exemplary of whats wrong with the politics in our nation (all nations for that matter). It's never about doing whats right, or best for your constituents. Both parties demonstrate on a regular basis they care more about their party and party-politics than they do the actual people they were elected and get paid to represent. Its like once they get into office, they switch allegiance to the party they campaigned under instead of the people that elected them. Both sides toe party lines, regardless of merit.
ReplyDeleteSo as pointed out, it's horrible when 'the other guys' gerrymander a district to gain a seat, but when 'our guys' do it to eliminate a seat its 'right and just'. Bullshit!
There IS a way to draw districts that is "Right and Just", but none of the people involved in making that decision are going to do so. And THAT is really the problem. Both sides justify their cheating ways, because, the other guy is doing it (so, if both sides do it, and justify it based on the other guy doing it, it will never end). It's so bizarre that at no point does any member or party (save Massie) try to do what's actually right! Instead they do all sorts of nasty vile, illegal shit and sell it in righteous terms and justifications. Like the republicants eliminating democratic seats through gerrymandering. You howled when they did it to make the seats, but its OK when you do it to eliminate them? You're both worthless piles of trash that deserve to be fed into a woodchipper, because neither of you are working for We The People.
This is why I say the system is fucked and needs to be burned to the ground. We can rebuild it using the Constitution and ideas and principles of our founding fathers, I do think they are right and just, but the class of people we call 'politician', is wholly unsuitable for the task. And that extends to all of society! Cops steal, preachers molest, politicians lie. It's all fake and ghey. You are lied to your entire life about everything, and only as you get older do you realize what a fucked up world we live in.
It is hard for the folks in Memphrica to claim that they deserve a black representative when they have had a liberal white guy for a CONgresscritter for almost 20 years. I think what the state legislature did is an abomination, but cannot help laughing my ass off at the antics of the colored "leaders" in Memphrica.
DeleteThis is politicians electing the voters instead of voters electing politicians.
DeleteBan gerrymandering nationwide. All districts should be compact and geographically continuous.
Kill Citizens United. Since that decision money in politics is completely out of control and a few billionaires effectively decide who can run. People vote for the people that billionaires already decided they can vote for.
Term limits for all positions in government at every level
Age limits at every level. No Presidents or Justices over 65. We can't have people making decisions about the future of the country that will not see that future. They need to have skin in the game
Civilization isn't for everyone, just as integration into a larger society and culture isn't for everyone. At least that is the practical application of the experiment despite egalitarian motivations to the contrary. Opposition to population-count and geographically defined districts must stem from a desire for segregated representation, a nation-within-a-nation like the Native Americans.
ReplyDeleteNo.
Citizens are citizens and the representation is of citizens.
Getting rid of Terri Sewell is the icing on the cake.
ReplyDeleteyou would think that having the best ideas for the running of the country would be enough. but no, whoever has control and can steal from group a to give to group b managed by highly paid group c drives politics these days.
ReplyDeleteHere in SC the Senate stopped it but our Governor will start it up.
ReplyDeleteIt's all right for her to appropriate White peoples hair , but let one White person put on black face for a joke, all hell breaks loose.
ReplyDeleteIf someone told her she misappropriated Trump's hairstyle, do you think she'd shave her head like Joy Reid did?

ReplyDeleteI'm having the time of my life watching all of the Demonrats decry the "abomination" of taking away black representation in state and federal governments. The race grift is almost over and well short of President Johnson's storied prediction.
ReplyDeleteWho knows, maybe the Demonrat party really is deader than a door nail.
Let's not get complacent. Those bastards have a plan. They always do.

They remind me of ducks. Loud, nasty creatures that want to freeload, and make messes.
ReplyDeleteThere are probably things early in life that can improve one's IQ, but later in life, giant-rimmed glasses most certainly DO NOT.

DeleteYou'd think they'd have been satisfied with getting Aunt Jemima kicked off the syrup bottles. Some people just can't be made happy, no matter what.
ReplyDeleteAs a white woman living in the northeast but identifying as a black southerner I agree with Juandalynn Givan that we were wrongfully stolen from Africa and ax that all who want should be allowed to return.
ReplyDeleteThe problem is no Country in Africa wants African American immigrants from the US.
DeleteIts not that they don't want them, its that they can't afford to keep them.
DeleteThey gerrymandered the districts back under HW Bush as Mike Espy was the only rural black Congresscritter(and they had gerrymandered that district in Mississippi). White Democrats weren't voting for black Democrats so they Created majority black districts. This took Democrat votes from Democrat congressional districts leading to GOP wins in the South and the 1994 surprise Republican takeover of the House.
ReplyDeleteI think this decision means a return to early 90s voting Less black faces in Congress and more White Democrats.
I was a poll worker in the 2000s. Our precinct abuted the Black Majority Spaghetti district created for Mel Watt. It was funny to see all of these voters from Mel's District try to vote for the Democrats in our Competitive district which tended to switch elect the opposite Party to Congress every other year.
I have an idea that would please all these idiots. They want to abolish the Electoral College and let the election be determined by popular vote. OK, then we don't need districts anymore. Every member of Congress will be an at-large member representing the whole state, elected by popular vote.
ReplyDeleteThank yhou very much, but NO! Definitely not!
