I am so proud of those that stood there and gave the finger to the Germans, making sure the Russian "Brothers In Arms" continued to get care from the Americanskis. Way to go, guys!!
More and more I'm coming to realize that it's not the peoples of the nations that are the problem, it's the Gooberments and leadership of the nations that are the problem. God bless the Russians and the Americans of WWII for their comradeship. Pass the kleenex, it's dusty in here. Toxic Deplorable B Woodman
You are absolutely correct, and I wish more people realized that.
Is the US gov't representative of you, or of itself?
The same is true with other countries.
One of my past times is to pick a random city anywhere in the world and look it up in google maps. Then I zoom in and find restaurants and bars. I click on one and the left sidebar opens showing pictures people have uploaded. I've looked at hundreds of cities and in most of them you'll see people that look and behave like us.
They are staring at their cellphones, drinking Cokes and eating cheeseburgers, drinking american alcohols, and the english language is everywhere.
As an example, take a look at this Jack Daniels bar named "Whiskey On The Rocks" in downtown Gdansk, Poland.
It seems we all have dust problems in our houses today. Put average Americans and average Russians together, and I suspect we’d all get along famously.
Nice story in trying times.
ReplyDeleteOn the road. Kuralt was one of the best. Watched his show religiously.

ReplyDeleteBeautiful story.
ReplyDeleteIf the POWs were captured at Tobruk, they were British or Australian. Tobruk fell to Rommel five months before Americans arrived in North Africa.
