Suffering from a little melancholia yesterday Irish? Kidding. All good, especially the middle one for the youngsters, meaning any one under 50.
I am amazed when I got to places where I have to wait, like the doctor's or dentist's office or the dealership waiting for that warranty maintaining service to be completed, seeing almost everyone with their noses glued to their phones, scrollin, scrollin, scrollin or watching CNN on the office TV, while I sit patiently, reading an actual real book. Makes you wonder what the outcome is going to be in twenty years, although I probably won't be around to see it.
Nemo If you see me waiting, I'll be reading my phones kindle app.
The estate sale one. The older folks seem to have an attachment to stuff and houses. My wife and I are not emotionally attached to either. A running joke/reply is MY STUFF MY STUFF MY HOUSE MY HOUSE
Sadly, its much like our Congress. Everyone gets the opportunity to speak freely, but ONLY when nobody else is there. You can see some of the greatest speeches ever made on YouTube from C-SPAN (mostly Ron Paul of course), made during their open hour speech periods. There is NEVER anyone there. When the chamber is full, nobody is allowed to say anything that might upset the folks who REALLY run our government. Obviously the EU chamber is similar. No, that certainly was NOT praise for Schumer's empty chamber rants.
The general mood from 1880 to 1980 "Why, he's the sort of man we need! Him and his kind are welcome here!"
But increasingly ever since, spoken from the entrenched matriarchy "White Christian oppressors must be stopped! The Noble Savage DESERVES our tax money, our resources, and our sympathy!"
If you are going to allow the monies brought in by some estate sale to determine what YOU WERE WORTH....then you've got way bigger problems RIGHT NOW!!!!! YOUR WORTH is determined by EVERYTHING OTHER THAN THE S#!+ you filled your life and your surroundings with. It is determined by WHAT YOU FILLED YOUR HEART WITH, and how much of that YOU SHARED WITH OTHERS!!!!
Yes, I have collected "things", but most of them are things that I use in my everyday life and hobbies. Most of them I hope to either distribute to my children later on (i.e., my enameled and cast iron cookware), or sell to other collectors (amateur radio). Or other stuff that's "NoneYa".
Understood. Lots of “None Ya” also. Only one who really cares is my 13yo adopted daughter who won’t appreciate it much. Oh well, I’ll enjoy it while I can. ET
One comment on the last clip, though they are all worth more than I can pay:
ReplyDeleteLet's see the titty.
What? Just me?
The second-from-the-bottom clip can be seen in its entirety starting here https://youtu.be/4TMPXK9tw5U?t=15
ReplyDeleteI've been thinking about that middle one a lot lately. Part of being over 70, I guess.

Yeah, those two about material items and time left kind hits home. Sooner than later I’ll be dealing with all my Mom’s stuff. Kinda sad.
