♫♪♫ Some Will Love This, Some Will Hate This... ♫♪♫
That's weird, I couldn't see this post on the page when I went to comment. I reverted it to draft then set it up again. Tough crowd for this one I see.
If I approach it like it is some fairly modern Scottish folk songs, it is pleasant enough to listen to. If it was original music, I would probably like it. However, like Sedition pointed out - it isn't Floyd and it isn't Maiden. So, therefore an affront to each. Knowing both bands to the point of hearing the subtleties in every note and lyric, it kind of sets my music OCD on fire.
I like Floyd but I built my step daughter (a Maiden fan) a Boeing 747 kit (Revell) with the Book of Souls markings and brought her the book on that trip when I was in Hong Kong. The book is excellent I think but I'm ignorant of anything to do with Maiden so its just my opinion. She has kids now so I got the model back. It looks good on my shelf and its staying there. I've spent more effort on a band I'm indifferent about than one I like which sums up my life really.
The Iron Maiden chaps (Dickinson) put an aircraft MRO together that among the A&P types is top-notch; that is the source of my interest in that group. That AI creation does what was intended, asking a "what if" question and isn't a golden calf beckoning the destruction of human kind. AI generated tones make my ears tired, and the phony intellect is a polished turd (you can only pick it up from the clean end) so listening for other than curiosity isn't fulfilling; your instincts know there is no soul there no matter what subject is chosen. If it came on the stream I'd leave it on for aural company.
My ancestors were Scottish. In the movie Braveheart I most identified with the crazy Irish man. I think because; I grew up in the greater Boston area in the 40's and 50's, a lot of Irish, Italian, jews, Poles, everyone you can imagine. Some of my Irish classmates were kicking my ass. I mean "friends" but we got in fights. I complained to my dad about these "Irish" kids. He said; the Irish are our brothers, as in the brothers of the Scottish people, not your enemy. It changed a lot and still have some old Irish friends I'm happy to see every now and then. Old! As in our 80's, LOL
I used to have a large protruding mole on my left shoulder. I was about 12 and one day in a fight with one of my Irish friends he had me pinned down on the sidewalk sitting on my and I fought to throw him off. It went on for a few minutes until I was able to get him off. All the moving around rubbed the shit out of that mole and it bled like a stuck pig. After healing it was gone, maybe a little bit of discoloration but lumpish dark brown bump was gone. As I remember the tee shirt was gone too, torn and blood soaked.
Complete and total sacrilege on 2 fronts.

Meh.
ReplyDeleteIt sounds better if you play it at 2x speed.

Sounds like a fart in a bucket with auto-tune.

ReplyDeleteSwing and a miss.
Wow, tough crowd here today. :)
ReplyDeleteI love both iron maiden and floyd, I like the blend...
DeleteI liked it, but it needed more Floyd. There are some oddly good funk versions of Metallica and Iron Maiden.
ReplyDeleteI for one enjoy the AI mixup’s. My favorite straight outta Compton by Hank Williams
ReplyDeleteI love both Pink Floyd and Iron Maiden
ReplyDeleteFck floyd Maiden Rules

What a load of pretentious wank! I heard Maiden live this summer at the Olympic Stadium and Pink Floyd are nowhere as capable.
ReplyDelete"Marty, that's very interesting music."
ReplyDeleteNot bad, now do Floyd from Mayberry
