This is a follow-up to the post yesterday about the van stuck on the closed bridge. First of all, allow me to make two corrections. The van did not go airborne. The driver, who was not a man as earlier stated, drove over the berm/debris and entered the bridge. It was only when blocked by additional debris on the bridge that the driver stopped. As can be seen in the photos, a skid-steer was used to remove the berm. Next, the big wrecker pulled the van to where the missing boards should be and the steel runners are visible. Then, the roll-off backed down and winched the van onto it's bed. It looks like proper planning paid off for the recovery crew. Good job guys.
*Irish here, I was interested to see if there was any information as to exactly what happened.
Somewhere, on the book of face, I found this video posted in the comment section that was on a post related to the incident.

So, she totally followed the GPS, no instinct at all.
But my GPS...
ReplyDeleteAn expensive tow.

ReplyDeleteI spewed coffee out my nose twice on that one.
DeleteNot, "What was that?" or "Can you help us get out?" First question out the window...."Do you know where the candle supply is?"
DeleteCome on guys she’s driving the submarine van into the submerged loading dock, all is well
DeleteOne way to dip your headlights ...

Just the good old boys
ReplyDeleteNever meaning no harm
A lot of effort to recover a van. Were the people still in there, afraid to exit as bango music waffled though the air.
ReplyDeleteProbably need to put a Jersey concrete barricade on that road. No going over one of those.
ReplyDeleteToxic Deplorable B Woodman
Neighbor just explained how he drove 45min out of the way because GPS didn't put him on NYS Thruway. He's lived here 45 yrs. Can't read a map.
ReplyDeleteThose things are notorious liars. I have used the one on my phone with mixed results (mostly good), but most of the time I know where I am going before I walk out the front door.
DeleteDitto. Always!
DeleteI was told by local FedEx guy, that they are not permitted to 'back up' unless in an open driveway with no other options (prefer pull through or park on street) and FedEx is a no tolerance company, violate the rule, your'e fired (and GPS will tattle on ya.) Poor girl is victim to company policy as best I can tell. (as well as PURE D DITZ since she failed to see the signs the entire way in,,,,)
ReplyDeleteThey, FedEx drivers beat the crap out of those Express vans. She had made a delivery week before last here, pulled in and kept trying to back out my driveway and rutted the hell out of it. I had to go out and show where to back out and how. I wonder if they give or show them any driving tips of a cargo van. I drive a Quigley Express because of these roads and driveways in Winston county. Vans definitely drive differently than pickups.
ReplyDeleteI've got pictures and vid of the previous FedEx driver with gages, vaping addiction and a propensity to not only be personality-inhibited but also retarded, proven by sinking the box van up to the rear bumper backing up into a spring-break-up lawn in the middle of the swamp.
DeleteNever heard Ford valves float that long without something breaking, although it was smoking when the large wrecker finally got him out.
The new girl serms normal.
NO life experience, not enough intelligence, blind faith in gps. Bad combo.
ReplyDelete"NO life experience, not enough intelligence"
Delete......like so many of Congress Critters and other Bureau-Kats who make decisions that effect us all.
Stealing that Jefferey but modifying to bureaukraps
DeleteIt's your barbeque! LOL
DeleteLet's not be so critical-after all, someone in HR got a few extra points when they hired the lady. Advice to the young guys in the audience: find a young lady who knows how to bake cookies and enjoys making babies.
ReplyDeleteLooks like she might have had a little night blindness to go along with it.
ReplyDeleteDriving too fast for road and environmental conditions? Check. Ignoring signs, both literal and obvious? Check. Acting like a dippwit? Check. She hired!
ReplyDeleteGive FedEx credit. Look how far the FedEx driver went in trying to deliver the package.☺
