Alabama's Drone Sighting: Officials warn of tactical action consequences.
There have been sightings in Alabama. Particularly, drone sightings have occurred in the southern portions of the state and officials feel it is necessary to get the word out that it is illegal to shoot down a drone. Their have no sighting so far in the town of Foley which butts up to Gulf Shores, AL. The mayor of Foley still felt so strongly that he made a public statement warning folks not to engage drones with guns. The mayor, who was quoted in the article, doesn't sound real sure of himself in regard to the legalities from the way I read it. Here is the link to the STORY. Not a lot in this piece, but I knew someone would ask so, I posted the link too. The real story is the fact that people, such as the mayor. deep down really believe there are a large number of Alabamians who do not like anyone looking over their shoulders combined with the fact that there are more guns in Alabama than people. A lot of people will deal with the "scary" drones in their own way. There will be some, if the opportunity presents itself, who will revert to the the SSS method to ease their minds. Most folks are too busy to give it much more than a gaze. Whether this drone thing is real threat, a phycological operation, or a desperate search to find some WMD (again possible pysop), etc., who can say? I suppose we will have to wait and see. As for the potential "drone shooters". I imagine if any potential shooters are identifiable, they will receive a very rapid response from the owners, .gov
I believe it is nearly impossible to shoot one down with a rifle or shotgun. A hobby drone barely bigger than a book, 400 feet up, flying at 40mph? Nobody could take one down with a shotgun even with turkey magnum loads. Damn hard to hit with a rifle too. And the bigger drones might have the ability to shoot back.
ReplyDeleteNope, it’s quad mount 40mm Bofors time with proximity fusing. Good luck finding one at your local Gunz R Us.
