A friend of mine came over one time with a bunch of home made mead. I was late getting to the office the next day and I wasn't much use when I got there.
If you want to hear the hurdygurdy in a band, Faun is a dark folk band that uses it, some of their music can be heard in the Vikings Series. Alestorm is an insane pirate band that also uses the hurdygurdy.
Hell of an instrument.
