I Survived The 18-24 Inch Snowpocalypse OF 2019!!!
The forecast from the end of the week, as I posted earlier, was lots of snow during Saturday
night and all day Sunday. The super markets were full and when I went to fill my gas cans on
Thursday night the girl behind the counter mentioned that they had run out of gas earlier in
the day.
Reality, 5- 6in max with sleet and freezing rain now. Granted, the roads are bad but this
was nothing like they hyped it to be. I wouldn't doubt if Market Basket and the New
Hampshire State Liquor Store Funded the forecast. I'm sure they made a killing.
Take away,
Three days ago the forecast was totally different than reality and we're supposed to trust
the climate change models for 100 year from now?
Riiiiiiight.............

Since I was kid, I have always had a theory that the television weather forecasters were in cahoots with the grocery store people. Reckon?
ReplyDeleteIt seems that way huh? Nowadays the weather guys sensationalize everything. I'm wondering when they will cry wolf too often and the real one comes.
DeleteYeah, it rained here most of the afternoon Saturday and into the night in Western PA. Turned to snow during the night. We got a total of maybe 4 - 5 inches. BFD. Nothing like they were predicting. The only thing that they did get right was the temperature falling into the teens overnight........
ReplyDeleteLast Weds or Thurs when the predictions started the system that was going to turn into the storm was just coming off the Pacific into California. So much for their computer models.
DeleteYep! The forecast here started at 6-12 plus, then 4-8, then 2-4.
ReplyDeleteHere in central Ct, we got about 4", ice on top of rain soaked snow.
This seems to be the norm. Northern NH got some good accumulation in the ski areas.
DeleteBe glad my man. I had visions of you getting froze in and was worried about ya.
ReplyDeleteI'm glad it turned out to be less of a headache for sure, although I was prepared :)
DeleteGlad to see you survived as many of us did...higher probability of injury @ MB or the NHSLS of Edmunds ! What the hell do ppl do with all the last minute crap they buy for every storm ? With your ref to the above stores we must just be miles apart..fire a flare if you need help sometime.
ReplyDeleteMy go to NHSLS are in Hampstead or Epping. The Market Basket in Epping is nice and very conveinently located off 101 and 125 :)
DeleteIs that a transgender snow person????
ReplyDeleteI didn't notice until you mentioned it. That's all the shit they are teaching the kids nowadays so I'm sure they are confused.
DeleteStill looks plenty dangerous to me Irish. Sorry boys - but Monday is CANCELLED.
ReplyDeleteAnd I don't want to hear any whining about it!!!
Hi Glen, ya the roads were bad. The snow was heavy then sleet and frozen rain. Luckily nothing stuck to the trees. Monday is still on.... sadly..
DeleteGrew up in No. Colorado. Now live near Lake Tahoe. It's been my observation that whenever the weather gurus
ReplyDeletepromise us Snowmageddon ErMyGod we're gonna get buried it always turns into a nothing burger. It's when they
say "No big deal"...just another winter storm that we get HAMMERED.
I woke up yesterday, at 6:30, to 16" on the deck. Stayed right around 0F the whole day, except when it spiked to 12F when the sleet came through. Then from 10:00 to 5:00 we got another 8" or so. Finally got the drive all polished up by 6:00pm. Essentially, our forecast for 18 - 25" was pretty much on the money - this time.
ReplyDeleteWife went to the store to pick us something nice for dinner, Saturday. She said the place was a mad house. Why people rush at the last minute to get staples is just ridiculous.

Delete89 N Ex 9 is my dis-function junction ... Monday is a go to work day here @ -2.. feeling the heat
ReplyDeleteCLose enough! Yup, I'm headed out soon as well.
DeleteTry getting off of the Dartmouth-Hichcock Hospital exit on 89 in the mornings. I have a buddy in Grantham, and when I head that way, I try to be well past that exit before 7:30. I've seen the off ramp backed up a quarter mile onto the highway.
