  1. there's one thing that bothers me about Omaha beach why didn't the battleships fire point blank into those guns?
It's like command was just shoving men into a meat grinder. And no officers/Admiral hell Eisenhower somebody should have been fired!

  3. My Grandpa was there and he was one of those guys who rarely said anything about the war. He did tell me that the naval gunners were crack shots on D-Day and could put a shell into a pillbox from 2-4 miles out. To offer an answer to your question I might say that there were so many fortified gun emplacements and the Germans were such masters of camouflage that the task to silence all would have been near impossible. Just my two cents worth Semper Fi. I'd be interested in hearing any other theories. Thanks for stopping by!

  4. I saw that movie in about 1999 after the crowds had stopped going and a week later insisted on my 15-year-old daughter going to watch it with me.
That beach sequence is the most horrifying and enraging piece of film I have ever seen and probably ever will see.

    1. It was like not being able to breath for the entire battle displayed on screen.

I could hear the audience take a collective breath at the end of it.
