Where I was raised, it was thirty miles to the nearest theater and we only got ABC, CBS, NBC, and PBS using an antenna and television set. However, I did manage to see this one on cable while visiting my aunt and uncle in Panama City Beach, FL the year it came out (1980) . Though I rarely see it now, it remains one of my favorites. It is Hollywood Knights and here is one of my favorite scenes.
The yellow 57 Chevy was the "Project X" car from Popular Hot Rodding.
The Cobra was owned by the guy driving it. He told the production company if they wanted the car in the film, HE would be driving it, as it was worth too much to let anybody else drive it.
When the movie was filmed they were going for $50~75,000, and today they're ten times that.
As much as I love shoeboxes, there is no way in hell one could beat a Cobra... sigh...

ReplyDeleteI'd heard that this was a cool movie, "Sorta like American Graffiti", so I asked out this young lady I kinda had a crush on, and took her to see it.
ReplyDeleteOOOPS!
Great movie to go see with your buddies, but NOT a good "First Date" movie!
This punch has a little wang in it.........................
ReplyDeleteI agree drjim. It is a cool movie, but not a first date film. Gailard Sartain is hilarious!
