What I'm Reading....

 Lucifer's Hammer.

from wiki:

The story details a cometary impact on Earth, an end to civilization, and the battle for the future. It encompasses the discovery of the comet, the LA social scene, and a cast of diverse characters whom fate seems to smile upon and allow to survive the massive cataclysm and the resulting tsunamis, plagues, famines and battles amongst scavengers and cannibals.

So far it's a pretty good book. The reading gets a little bogged down in some areas but overall the authors do a good job.

4 stars from me.

  7. Any time you can put Larry Niven and Dr. Jerry Pournelle together, you get fantastic reads. Footfall, Fallen Angels, the Herot series, Inferno, The Moties. By the gripping hand, I tell you true, READ.

  8. Great book. I've read it a couple of times in the last 20 years or so. Makes "Deep Impact" and "Armageddon" look like crap.

  10. I've given away five or six copies of this over the last thirty years to friends. It was one of the major reasons I got into prepping. I especially locked in on the idea of building up a library of books, mostly on technology, DIY and how-to books, animal husbandry, medicine and nursing, etc. I didn't bury mine in my septic tank though. At least, not yet ;-)
