camaro driver needs to be beaten with a hammer. and the pickup driver should be ticketed for impeding traffic by blocking the lane and at least careless driving. the sad part of all this is the semi driver will be penalized by the lawyers.
@capt fast: This is pretty much spot on. It's sometimes tempting to be an asshole back to people but really it's not anyone's place to impede traffic or to try to enforce laws. Let the idiots though.
The pickup driver is 50% at fault if not more. If he hadn't been a jerk and blocked the Camaro for miles the whole accident on camera would have been avoided.
If I was on the jury for the civil suits I'd have a hard time not hammering that clown.
The bad part is the trucker probably lost his job. The trucker was running a flatbed with staked sides. He is working as one of the better paid truckers but the companies that run flatbeds have a very low tolerance for tickets and accidents. It doesn't matter that it wasn't his fault. He will probably end up working for SWIFT which is the bottom of the barrel as a truck employer.
The idiot with the dash cam is very lucky.. He was way too close to the action, you see that behavior you stay back 200 yards let the idiots figure it out without your help.
Typical left lane assholes who want to control what everyone else on the road does and refuse to pass and move over to allow the smooth flow of traffic. Driver of pickup truck is just as much to blame.
Judging from the shadows, there was a vehicle about one car length in front of the pick up when the Camaro tried to duck in. So no viable space and trying to duck in like that is a douche move. However, the pick up driver's subsequent actions; brake check and then blocking are reprehensible. I am surprised that the truck driver didn't notice the drama in his mirror and force the pass by slowing down.
The law of averages is that pretty much every 9th or 10th driver on the road at any given time - is an idiot. If you get three or four of them in a group like that, they will do what idiots do. That accident was entirely preventable, and any one of them could have done it.
If the pickup was going the speed limit, he was NOT impeding traffic. If I'm going the speed limit and some arseling climbs my bumper, well, he can just sit there until I have an opportunity to move over. The only caveat here; if I was the pickup driver, I wouldn't have hovered alongside the big rig. I would have either dropped back or accelerated.
Differ; was the pickup driver brake-checking, or was he being forced up against the car in front of him? I commute in southern California. I see this shit happen EVERY DAY. ...NO free pass for the Camaro driver. HE was the cause of this situation.
Yes. When the Camaro tries to duck in and the pickup almost fishtails, you can see a vehicle in front of the pickup.
If I had been Dash-cam-boy, I would have backed off. It was pretty obvious that a wreck was coming; especially once the Camaro went for the inside shoulder.
Both the pickup driver and the tanker driver knew they had the a-ho tailgater boxed in. The a-ho lost his shit because his time is more valuable than that of anyone else.
I'm sorry, but everyone who blames the pickup driver is ignorant of any facts that can't be seen from the video. The Camaro driver was a total AH. If you can't see that, well I'm sorry for your obvious lack of mental capacity.
You never know when someone comes up behind you what’s going on. He could just be drunk. He could be just an asshole. He could be on the way to the hospital. It’s not your job to enforce either good driving or the law.
If the pickup passes the semi and gets over, the asshole passes and goes on down the road. Instead, boy the pickup driver really showed the Camaro driver, didn’t he? The accident report isn’t going to treat either of them well.

ReplyDeleteI'm gonna blame the pickup driver too.
ReplyDeletePlus one on the asshole in the pickup. Get the fuck out of the way. What a dick.

ReplyDeleteget your mind right: everybody who passes you is a RADAR detector. let 'em all pass, and thank them for the service they provide.

ReplyDeleteThe pickup driver has to be a democratic socialist. He's trying to control everything by blocking the road.
ReplyDeleteIf that was Walter Zoomie driving the tractor, he would be kicking everyone's ass.

ReplyDeleteHalf the drivers around you have an IQ less than 100. This video is proof of at least 4 of them...

Only one driver was reckless.
