You Dirty Little M---f--k-r....

 Ticks

Are all over the news lately.

So, based on the time I spend out hiking and in the woods I do take precautions.

Permethrin on pants and tick check every time i venture out.

That being said, I have no idea on what happened yesterday.

Yesterday was busy, I didn't have time to spend outside. It was a long day and when I got

home I changed into sweats, put a load of laundry in , had some diner and took a long shower.

Retired to bed and scrolled the internet before shutting off the light.

Maybe 20-30 mins later I felt something on my arm.

In the dark I felt a little bump with my finger.

Didn't think anything of it, maybe a beetle or just random bug.

I picked it up and turned on the light. A fucking tick. No way.

He was dispatched readily. Good riddance.

For the next hour every little feeling on my skin was investigated.

So.  The quandry...

No outdoors time since the day before.

No pets currently at my living arrangements.

All laundry done and washed.

A long hot shower.

Fucker was there.

I have no idea.  Other than this:

  2. Try Food Grade Diatomaceous Earth. I use an old talcum powder bottle to put a light puff around the baseboards. Use a broom to get it into the cracks in the floors. You can put it on the yard and garden, just redo after it rains. It works on every insect Gawd ever made.
I've read that you can feed it to pets to kill parasites but DONT BREATH IT!

  3. Vaseline on its head .It breaths out the top of its head and getting it to pull out helps prevent leavening any part of the little fucker under your skin.

  4. Same thing here. Got up showered & dressed. Drove to doctor apptmnt. While checking my ankles he found a seed tick. Tiny little bastard. Guess I'll have to bomb the house & spray the yard.

  5. Over the last ten years I've had to go the ER for two ticks, one on the back of a thigh, one on the back of a shoulder, both at home. They always seem to embed in place where you can't remove them by yourself. They give me the heebeegeebee's just thinking about them because of all the different diseases they carry. Doxycycline 2x/day for a week to cancel the diseases.

  6. I am on Southern Maine and the ticks get worse each year.

Last year was really bad but this year is already worse!

  7. I heard this "tick bite season" will be the highest on record, but not to worry Pfizer has announced a new mRNA tick vaccine will be available in time for the 2027 season.

  8. My neighbor has guinea hens
They spend much of the day cruising my yard, eating ticks and whatnot.
They say hello and go about their business.
    Nice folks.

  9. Years ago, on the way to Sequoia NP, we stopped at K-Mart in Bakersfield. We were picking up ice or some such thing; my seven year old daughter picked up a tick. We spent the next two weeks camping and hiking in two national parks. The was the only tick we ever saw. You just never know.

  10. In addition to putting permethrin on your pants, I would also put little bungee cords around your ankles to hold the gap closed between the pants leg and your ankle. I have been told that the ticks will jump on and then climb up until they run into resistance, then dig in. The bungee cord holding down the pants leg opening keeps them from getting in. Haven't had a tick bit since I learned that. And, do all the stuff the other commenters say about how to get them off, if one does get past the defenses.
