Don't know if you've had Cracker Jacks lately but they ain't as good as they were. One box didn't have any peanuts & another didn't hardly have any caramel.
Thanks, Jeffery. Cracker Jack was always a treat in the CHRISTmas stocking, along with Animal Crackers. It was the only time we ever got either of those treats.
IIRC, my favorite was the one where the little boy came up to trade for a box of Cracker Jacks. The boy gave Mr Gilford everything in his pockets (and it was a lot) (including a frog?). Again, IIRC, (and it's been a LOOOOOng time ago) Mr Gilford selected a large fat shooter marble in trade for the Cracker Jacks. Good times.
I used to believe that's how older years would be spent. However, now at 66, I briefly felt that way, briefly. I googled mapped my old neighborhood. I did drive through of most of the streets I used to ride my bike. Or looked at satellite images of where all the woods used to be. I soon realized that try to re live the past is not a healthy mental attitude. I recently closed my retail store of 20 years and had to purge the back room and studio. The more of the past I threw away, the better I felt. I'm not preaching to anyone about "this is what you should do"! Only that it uncluttered my mind.
Once in a blue moon I put Coffee Mate Zero Sugar chocolate caramel creamer in my coffee for a sweet tooth fix...
...I preferred Fiddle Faddle to Cracker Jack after I turned about 15, better coating and a helluva lot more caramel coating. I haven't had either for about 30 years. That said, prior to my 15th year, I was the proud owner of at least a half dozen pocket sized compasses.
I agree, Fiddle Faddle was better, don't bother buying Cracker Jack today as its gone downhill, so sad that products have gone the way side when they should have never changed the receipe and or used cheaper ingredients.

Jack Gilford was a marvelous actor. Loved him in "Forum", and he MADE those Cracker-Jack ads!
