kind of sad in a way, I used to see manifolds like that in junkyards back in the 1970's too. had a 3 duce setup with air cleaner for a Pontiac 389 until I went into the army. when I got back home, dad had cleaned out what "junk" I had stored down there. dave in pa.
Yup. I know a guy that picked up a 3 deuces complete set up from a junkyard in the 70s for $50. He installed it on his '67 GTO. He still has the car, but wanted to restore it to original. He sold the "tri power induction" to a '65 GTO owner for $1500. He could've gotten more, but I guess the guy was a friend. Lol
I could not believe how much I could have sold the damn air cleaner alone for back 2003 ! it was a stock Pontiac setup too. I save/grabbed the whole setup too, linkage, air cleaner and all of the small fuel hose clips too. just my luck that dad wanted to clean up the basement while I was gone. dave in pa.
I had two cousins with goats (GTO) with 3 duces they were in competition with each other. I remember my uncles telling them those thing just waste gas. They swore that they got better gas mileage over my uncles quad carb by shutting down the two outboard carbs and only using them at a race. Bob in B.R.
Guessing the center 2 bbl with the automatic choke feeds all 8 cylinders under mundane driving conditions while the other 4 carbs kick in when the driver wants to get there in a hurry. They don't look like Rochesters; Carters maybe?? Was this beast a factory option or an aftermarket romp & stomp?

Tri-power!
DeleteI had a friend that had one of them, a 67, blue with a 3/4 cam.
I alway heard that carburetor is French for “don’t mess with it.”
ReplyDeleteAre you sure that is not also an inscription on a pair of fancy panties?
