I was there in 1977 - you missed a helluva party! lol I don't remember this swirling event either. But then, I spent much of my time wasted in the Lowenbrau tent. Drank 7 litres that day, then slept on the bus back to Wildflecken.
was with the 101st in 76. the year it went to Reforger. they had buses running us there and back. got lost. spent 3 days with some girls in a small ass camper until I found a MP. grabbed his ass and told him my story. NO problem. it seems like a LOT of us got lost there and when I got back, top told me, he didn't care as long as he had everyone back when it came to board the plane back to FT. Campbell. we got back 3 days early. everyone got a 8-10 day pass/whatever. US air had extra flights out of nasty town. when I got back on base, there where a lot of people "missing" . it seems like they DID NOT TELL THE WIVES we where coming back early. the stories I heard where unreal. base hospital was filled, so where the ones in hop town and clark city. the MP and local cops had their hands and jails full of guys who walked in and caught the wife doing the nasty with someone else. they used to issue us really nice Gerber daggers before that. nice 5 inch blades. the mark one I think it was. they didn't do that anymore after that trip. seems like a lot of people got stabbed or cut with them. don't know as I jump on another plane out of nasty town to head home I still have the Swiss army knife I bought on that trip though. dave in pa.
Back when Men were Men and their wives were others when they were deployed. Heard a lot of tails of West Pack Widows. Even hooked up with a few at Gator Gardens EM club on the phib base in Coronado.
yeah. I stayed away from the "wives" when shit like that happens. too easy to get shot on the downstroke so to speak. besides, I often had better luck "fishin" off base. didn't want the drama really. dave in pa.
I entered in Jun 74 and was assigned to the 82nd and sent to the 54th engineers in Wildflecken Germany for 37 months. In late 77 I PCS'd back to Fort Campbell for my last 7 months of a 4 year enlistment and ETS'd from the 101st in Jun 78. I did 3 reforgers and many other training exercises. In 76 I did 93 days in a row at Graf. in a GP medium on a cot in the sweltering heat. Now, the bad times have faded and the good times got better.
Those were common at the Ohio State fair and sometimes at county fairs in the 60's. Great fun and rug burns. They were pieced together of beautiful, laminated hardwood.
I saw that at a Greek festival in Charleston about a 40yrs ago. I came to the conclusion that the secret was not wearing panties, at least from my vantage point. I need to dig up those pictures.

Went to Munich and the Oktoberfest grounds one weekend from Oberammergau In March of 69. It was wild and drunk enough all over in March, can’t imagine Oktoberfest….couples screwing on car hoods in the parking lot… had one of the guys give us a big “Gruess Gott..!!…without missing a stroke as we walked by….:)
