Beautiful Bear. The Conservation Center near Portage Ak. have three Brownies. Their enclosure is 14 gage wire with 6X6 inch openings and a strand of electrified wire. Of course if one puts their hand inside anything is possible. Most tourists are taken aback at their seemingly sparse enclosure. But that is what makes visiting them unique and memorable. The Center hosts all of Alaska’s wildlife. Quite the experience to see and visit, sez 1st ANGLICO.
The Ak. Wildlife Conservation Center is over 200 acres. It is located at the end of Turnagain Arm (where Cap’n Cook was looking for NW Passage. William Bligh, of HMS Bounty fame, named it.) the bore tides can get to be 40 feet at times on the arm. (Folks surf it) The Brownies have their own lake and island. Large in comparison to what folks find “outside”(what we call the lower 48). One drives around in their auto to view the magnificent critters, mostly. Unique place, not like a zoo.
Better than being trapped or shot by Davy Crockett wannabes. But I hear you, Bear Claw, just saying better than most tourist traps on average. Also, misspoke about having all Ak. critters, don’t have Polar Bear there.
Still a zoo, Anon. We have seen bear here in the northern Rockies migrate hundreds of miles. We live with them and respect them, but I would never relegate one to a 200 acre pen. Even the most timid live with several thousand acres at their disposal and thousands more should they choose.
Anybody that would do that to a bear deserves to have their fucking teeth knocked out and be slowly starved while the public gets to watch. Fucking people, man. They're mostly monsters and my species fucking disgusts me sometimes.
Just another example of how humans on earth are the only thing that can destroy mother nature
ReplyDeleteThe more and more I read about things like this. The more and more I have respect for Mother Nature and less and less for humanity.
ReplyDeleteUkraine.
ReplyDeleteWhy am I not surprised.

ReplyDeleteI find zoos extremely depressing.

DeleteJust think how the animals feel.
