Just because I used to handle safety issues in my previous job - if you own a gas dryer, PLEASE get a fire extinguisher and locate it NEXT to the dryer. I have known of at least 3 gas dryers that did significant fire damage to homes when lint, etc. caught fire. One was caught quickly and extinguished because the homeowner had an extinguisher nearby. Electric ones don't have those same issues, but do keep the vent hose clear of lint anyway, as it impedes efficiency significantly. Thanks. Now go back to enjoying your Thursday.

Uh, no. If it's NEXT to the dryer you won't be able to reach it when the dryer goes all flamey. Put it on the wall several feet away, like across the room; "mounted on the wall" is important because it will be always in the same place, visible, and not blocked or covered up by stuff piled around it or hidden behind other stuff in the back of a kitchen cabinet. And, "one is none, two is one" so a second (and, maybe a third) in another room isn't a bad idea, either.
Reason number 7,569 that I believe there is a God. I've seen too many close calls to think it's just chance.
