Why Grandpas are better...

Have you ever wondered what the difference is

between Grandmothers and Grandfathers

Well, here it is:

There was this loving grandfather who always made a

special effort to spend time with his son's family

on weekends. Every Saturday morning he would take

his 5-year-old granddaughter out for a drive in the

car for some quality time -- pancakes, ice cream,

candy -- just him and his granddaughter.

One particular Saturday, however, he had a terrible

cold and could not get out of bed. He knew his

granddaughter always looked forward to their drives

and would be very disappointed.

Luckily, his wife came to the rescue and said that

she would take their granddaughter for her weekly

drive and breakfast.

When they returned, the little girl anxiously ran

upstairs to see her grandfather who was still in

bed. "Well, did you enjoy your ride with grandma?"

he asked.

"Not really, Pa Pa, it was boring. We didn't see a

single asshole, queer, piece of shit, horse's ass,

socialist left wing Biden lover, blind bastard, dip

shit, Muslim camel humper, pecker head or son of a

bitch anywhere we went. We just drove around and

Grandma smiled at everyone she saw. I really didn't

have any fun.”

1994: 50th Anniversary of D-Day Montrose Beach Chicago, IL

I had been doing Civil War re-enacting about four years at the time. A fellow reenactor invited me to attend the Chicago event with him and his unit which was based out of the St. Louis area. Even at that time, strict political correctness guidelines were to be observed. There was no SS troops allowed, no display of the swastika, and of course IL is a machinegun "non-friendly" state. So, there were no machineguns (the automatic sounds heard in the video are from gas guns). It was estimated that between 500,000-750,000 spectators were present. The special effects were great. It was like a huge movie set. There were designated seats for 2,500 veterans who were actually at D-Day. That had to be increased to accommodate over 5,000 (I got to talk with several interesting veterans and was thanked by dozens for "keeping history alive"). I was hooked to say the least. Below is a picture taken the evening before the event. I am the second guy from the right (a lot of water has ran over the dam since then. I was about to turn 31. That is the same age my granddaddy was when he landed at Normandy 06 Juni 1944).

Lest We Ever Forget

Regardless of politics, war profiteers, or other "hidden agendas", I sometimes think of the sacrifices made during World War Two by individuals of the Western Allies (Canada, United States, Australia, New Zealand, Great Britain and a few others not named) made in the fight against Germany (factory workers, airmen, soldiers, sailors and literally millions of unnamed people who worked to provide the logistics that were necessary to transport, equip, feed, care for medically, etc. in that fight). These people came together in a concerted effort to achieve a common goal only to witness their governments hand over the countries and freedoms they were fighting for to godless heathens, liberals, communist,  and deep state "one worlders". Now, seventy-eight years later, these once mighty countries bow to political correctness (for lack of a better term) and cater to a minority of persons who demonstrate abnormal behavior (LGBT, transgender, etc.), invaders who ignore and breach borders and laws with impunity and are often times treated better than the citizens of these countries. What a shame. What would the majority of people from this time think of the state of these countries today? What would the men who landed at Normandy think? Would they do it again so future leaders could trample the core beliefs and values they held so dear? No matter what these countries have become, the men who went ashore or jumped from the sky on June the 6th earned their place in history.

Welp, There's The Problem...

Trying to out-do Phil, I found this baby on bookface last week.  I've taken a shine to

these Husqvarna mowers and I'm getting to know the various quirks and issues.

It ran, but no power and smoked.... hmmmm

It's a YTH2448T. B&S 24 Intek and Torque Tough Transaxle.  Nice machine.

It was loaded in the back of my truck and I handed the guy the asking price of $150.00.

Today , I got to tinkering and pulled the valve covers.

See anything that may be an issue??

These motors, from what I have gleaned from the internet like to over heat to the point that the

valve guides move. Usually the exhaust one.  Aaaaaand... YUP, slid out right to...

the..... bottom.... of.... the ....... retainer.

Hmmm, no wonder the push rod is bent.

I'll pull both heads. Check the guides and peen then aluminum.  I also read that some guys

have added set screws thru the side wall.  Not sure how far I'll go.  Some more research

before reinstalling.  I found used heads on ebay and new ones are available as a kit with

gaskets and all. Decisions decisions........
