I can certainly appreciate those heartfelt sentiments. His obit on Al.com failed to mention his felony past, including threatening to shoot his pregnant girlfriend in the belly.
Al.com is the pinnacle of liberalism. I am certain the story was intended to ridicule the commissioner/veterinarian of Cherokee County. There, like most of Alabama, al.com is not going to find the sympathy or outrage for George Floyd, BLM, "hands up don't shoot", etc. they seek. Most folks can see the angle the leftist commies are working and don't buy any of what they are selling.
He was running the same script he ran when he was arrested for the same thing in April the year before, and he freaked out when he discovered he'd fucked up.
