STILL THINK THIS IS FUNNY?
Not one of these taxes existed 100 years ago, & our nation was the most prosperous in the world. We had absolutely no national debt, had the largest middle class in the world, and Mom stayed home to raise the kids.
What in the heck happened?
Can you spell 'politicians?'

  1. If 30% of all employers refused to send withholding to the treasury, there would be absolutely nothing the government could do to force them. The logistics would be too demanding, expensive, and the final result would be more joining in with the refusal.

We're in the water, and it's warm.

  2. That "telephone federal excise tax" was originally enacted to help pay for costs of the "war of 1812".

Was talk of repealing it years ago but government never met a tax it didn't like.

    1. Not at all. Back then phones were considered "luxury items" hence it being called an "excise" tax.

Even the "War of 1812" costs has long been payed off, this tax still continues.

Once a tax is enacted it never goes away.

    2. That is one of the dumbest things I have ever heard. Telephones weren't invented for 60-70 years after the War of 1812. Who taught you history? I might believe the Civil War but 1812?

  4. I blame Woodrow Wilson. In 1913 he convinced Congress to charter the third National Bank. AKA, the Federal Reserve bank. So the government could borrow money from itself to expand the social welfare state and grow gov't itself to burrow ever deeper into the lives of its citizens. Think public education. Since the gov't couldn't actually repay those loans from the collection of taxes, which were low and few, or tariffs and surcharges and fees, they had to create a couple new things. Inflation and new taxes. Between 1812 when Andrew Jackson refused to sign a bill authorizing the 2nd national bank and 1913 inflation in the US was 1 to 2%. For the entire 100 years. Think about that. An item which cost $1 In 1812 cost no more than$1.02 in 1913. In that century this country created more wealth. Actual wealth. Than the rest of the world has ever created in total. Inflation since 1913 has run over 1000%. I really hate Woodrow Wilson.
