First song I heard after waking up from major surgery in October 1968. Had been under for three days. Every time I hear this song, it reminds me, that I survived. Unfinished song; yes, additional lyrics, perhaps. But, then so was I unfinished.
It is always good to dive into classic lyrics and music; that was a very good presentation. The line that puts place, time, and people together for me is "And if it snows that stretch down south won't ever stand the strain".
I always liked his music but was never a huge fan or anything.
Does anyone else remember staring at the lines of power poles as you went down the road when you were young. If you’ll notice you don’t see that anymore except on the back roads.
I despise taking the interstates and only do so when there is no other options.its nice not being in a hurry to get anywhere.

Two songs are my favorite, Wichita Linemen and Essential Highwaymen.
ReplyDeleteAnother Jimmy Webb/Glen Campbell collaboration was Galveston. Always wrecks me, man.
DeleteI still see her standing by the water
Standing there looking out to sea
And is she waiting there for me?
On the beach where we used to run
