Man isn't sure if he shot himself or the bear bit him

The inital video I had chosen for this post was removed by YT. It was his original "selfie". He was very cool considering. Not shown is the moment he "relishes" the revenge he took on the bear. Maybe it will resurface. Good luck and Godspeed young man.

  1. Hope he can keep the skull, or what's left of it. Be a cool Swedish mount.

  2. So...advice to the broads that would chose a bear over a man in the woods...carry a 10mm, or so it seems.

  3. He’s a very lucky man to come out alive, definitely could have been a lot worse.

  4. Even though the guy appeared to be well equipped and to have had some training, he was very lucky indeed.

    2. Better than shitting himself than shooting himself as you would’ve done.

  8. I have been married for 45 years, but before we got married I took my wife to Kings Canyon National Park camping. She was not use to camping in a park that had no heated water and showers. This place allows you to burn wood that has come down, hunt, and live like you would in the 1800s. I set up a tent and the second night she woke me up because a bear was outside looking for food, which I had placed in the trunk of the car. I told her to go asleep and the bear would not bother us. She finally calmed down and the bear left. The next morning she said we are leaving.

    1. I spent 12 months and 29 days as a US Marine tank commander in Vietnam. The entire time was spent "camping" on the back of my tank. I have not gone camping once since that time in 1968.

  10. A couple'o random comments....

    * Yeah, a 10mm in a chest holster looks like what a hunter in Alaska needs.
    * Regardless of where you're hunting, or otherwise in the outdoors, an IFAK with a tourniquet needs to be immediately available. I have bought several from Rescue Essentials, but there are several other quality distributors out there too. Beware: Many of the tourniquets you can find on Amazon are counterfeits.
*Find a Stop the Bleed course in your area and take it. These courses are free and you'll leave with the knowledge that you can save your own life, if needed.

10mm is a good bear round, but not hollow points. Wonder what he had chambered?
