  1. For $13.5k, that was a great deal. The 400 engine was severely de-tuned. Add headers, 4-barrel intake and 700 cfm double pumper, and electronic ignition and it would pick up 35 HP and the fuel mileage would increase. The 400 had lots of low end torque.

    1. Personally, I would install a Megasquirt and either go sequential injection (not so hard to do!) or cheap out and do TBI on a 630-650 CFM setup. easier to tune, too!

  2. I had a 72 4-door that I still miss after all these years. Point that critter where you wanted to go, and it just ate up the miles.

  3. A 400CID engine that made 172 (net)HP. I forgot how bad we took it in the shorts back then!

  4. Mine was a 71 and i paid 3k back in 1995. It only had 60k on it then. Had about five years or so sold it for 5500 after putting a new top and duel exhaust. Oh well theres been plenty i wish i had held on to like 60s broncos and falcons and fairlanes. Hell even the late 60s bugs i had In high school.

  5. Memory gone with age but Mom probably drove us boys around in a 4dr version. Dad was a ford man.
