I wish stores and businesses would close today to allow an honorable space for their memory. Instead it is the beginning of Summer vacation season, sales sales sales, and a convenient three-day week end.
It's difficult to call America a country anymore, rather it's merely an economic zone and a hotel for the world to come and make money in. Even my family wanted to BBQ on the rusted out pit, rather than quietly vibe with a book or something. Consumerism.
Respect and remembrance of those who fought and died for our country cannot and should not be mandated. It should be encouraged and taught by parents and leaders and everyone should be allowed to observe this day in their own way. Remind your children and friends what Memorial day is and show them by your own actions how it should be observed. Love your country and those who protect it and vote like your life depends on it.
It says a lot about us as a people when we celebrate black history MONTH and pride MONTH , but honor our fallen and our veterans with only a day. It's time for us to be less tolerant.
