  9. "Hammer to Fall" by Queen is The Song

    Lyrics:
    Yeah!
Here we stand, or here we fall,
    History won’t care at all
Make the bed, light the light, yeah,
Lady Mercy won’t be home tonight.

    Yeah,
You don’t waste no time at all,
Don’t hear the bell, but you answer the call
Comes to you as to us all,
And — we’re just waiting for the Hammer to Fall, yeah!

Oh, every night, and every day,
A little piece of you is falling away
But lift your face, the Western Way, baby —
Build your muscles as your body decays.

    Yeah,
Toe your line and play their game,
And let the anesthetic cover it all
‘Till one day, they call your name,
You’ll know it’s time for the Hammer to Fall, yeah.

    Rich or poor or famous,
For your truth, it’s all the same, yeah, babe. (Oh no — oh no!)
Oh, lock your door, but rain is pouring,
Through your window pane (Oh no!)
Ah, baby, now your struggles all in vain, yeah, yeah!

For we, who grew up tall and proud,
In the shadow of the Mushroom Cloud
Convinced our voices can’t be heard,
We just wanna scream it louder and louder and louder,

What the hell we fighting for?!
Ah, just surrender and it won’t hurt at all, no.
You just got time to say your prayers,
Yeah, while you’re waiting for the Hammer to, Hammer To Fall.

Hey! Listen — it’s going to fall, right!
Hammer, you know, ah, Hammer To Fall, yeah!
    Woooo...
    Hey, hey, woo-woo!
    Hah, hah!

While you’re waiting for the Hammer To Fall.
Give it to me one more time!

  24. I'd like to add something on a more positive note: "Fool if You Think it's Over ". Chris Rea, 1978. The operative line being "fool if you think it's over it's just begun ". It was a popular song with the 78 Yankees and their epic comeback against the hated Red Sox. So even when things look bad, like now, there can be a comeback.

    1. I woke up this morning thinking I should have listed the 1972 film, "Deliverance". It is a dark and horrid setting where the body and soul are tortured equally. Naturally, I would play the part of Bobby (Ned Beatty) and .gov would play the part of the hillbillies doing what they do best and that is violently ass raping normal people.

  33. "On the Losin' End" , Neil Young, if only cuz I admire it as a great drinking song: it alludes to any point of Kubler-Ross' five stages of grief, but that Wilson Pickett-esque coda and the pedal steel solo reminds me of Anger; happily preparing for that last epic battle ... you know what I mean?

    Magnu, by Hawkwind

    Magnu, horse with golden mane
I want your help yet once again
Walk not the earth but fly through space
As lightning flash or thunders race
Swift as the arrow from the bow
Come to me so that no one can know.
Sunbeams are my shafts to kill
All men who dare imagine ill
Deceit that fears the light of day
Fly from the glory of my ray
Good minds open and take new light
Until we diminish by the reign of night
Until we diminish by the reign of night
Until we diminish by the reign of night
Until we diminish by the reign of night
A burning brand was seen to fall
It lit the darkness of the hall
    The flying hoofbeats circling in
Come to me and let us spin
Sunbeams are my shafts to kill
All men who dare imagine ill
Deceit that fears the light of day
Fly from the glory of my ray
