  2. Typical minority of yutes today lack of discipline. Haven’t used an alarm clock in over a decade. I do like the other yutes though.

  3. I swear that's what my millennial employees do.
Decades ago, I decided that if I woke up, it was time to get up, no matter what.
I typically wake up between 5-6 AM to hit the head, and I just start my workday even though I'm not supposed to be in until 8 AM. In 2023 I was late *once* by 15 minutes...and it was on a day when I woke up at 5:30 AM and decided to go back to bed to get more sleep.

It sounds a bit hippie, but if you pay attention to the natural rhythms of your body and stop forcing yourself to stay up until 2 AM playing video games or engaging in other worthless pursuits you won't have a problem waking up on time.

This breaks down for jobs that are constantly time-shifting. If one day you work 8 AM-5 PM, the next day you work 4 PM to 1 AM you're gonna be in trouble.

  5. I had an old Brown-shoe commander in the Air Force who told us to always use two alarm clocks; one next to the bed, and the other across the room so you would have to get up and negotiate several obstacles to get to it to turn it off. By the time you shut off #2, you were definitely awake. We called it the Major Lighter Dual Alarm-Clock System. (Additional reliability was gained by using clocks with different independent power supplies, ie. one plug-in, the other wind-up.)
