People who never built anything aren't equipped to really appreciate something like that. That is truly humbling. I wonder what else that guy did. What did he do to make a living?
Very impressive. The cynic in me notes that, while beautiful and ingenious, it's also completely useless, and yet the maker became a celebrity for it, while had he invested that effort into something that actually improved the world (better farming technology, or manufacturing tech, or transportation tech, etc) he'd never have garnered the fame, and he'd likely be forgotten.
I had never heard of this. Thank you. It is awesome that this was made 250 years ago.
