About the Album Operation Mindcrime <<<<<
Queensryche Lyrics
"Revolution Calling"
For a price I'd do about anything
Except pull the trigger
For that I'd need a pretty good cause
Then I heard of Dr. X
The man with the cure
Just watch the television
Yeah, you'll see there's something going on
Got no love for politicians
Or that crazy scene in D.C.
It's just a power mad town
But the time is ripe for changes
There's a growing feeling
That taking a chance on a new kind of vision is due
I used to trust the media
To tell me the truth, tell us the truth
But now I've seen the payoffs
Everywhere I look
Who do you trust when everyone's a crook?
Revolution calling
Revolution calling
Revolution calling you
(There's a) Revolution calling
Revolution calling
Gotta make a change
Gotta push, gotta push it on through
I'm tired of all this bullshit
They keep selling me on T.V.
About the communist plan
And all the shady preachers
Begging for my cash
Swiss bank accounts while giving their
Secretaries the slam
They're all in Penthouse now
Or Playboy magazine, million dollar stories to tell
I guess Warhol wasn't wrong
Fame fifteen minutes long
Everyone's using everybody, making the sale
I used to think
That only America's way, way was right
But now the holy dollar rules everybody's lives
Gotta make a million doesn't matter who dies
Revolution calling
Revolution calling
Revolution calling you
(There's a) Revolution calling
Revolution calling
Gotta make a change
Gotta push, gotta push it on through
I used to trust the media
To tell me the truth, tell us the truth
But now I've seen the payoffs
Everywhere I look
Who do you trust when everyone's a crook?
Revolution calling
Revolution calling
Revolution calling you
(There's a) Revolution calling
Revolution calling
Gotta make a change
Gotta push, gotta push it on through
Never even heard of these cats till today. Man, prophets... "Your children shall prophesy and your old men dream dreams..." Thanks for the illumination.
ReplyDeleteNot too far from the truth indeed.
ReplyDeleteOne of the greatest albums to come out of the 80's
ReplyDeleteCouldn't agree more
DeleteI'll second that!
DeleteAnd here we are in the Queen's Reich.
ReplyDeleteKaren uber alles. (Apologies to Bike Nurse and original MiLFy Blonde Karen).
Saw them live with Metallica and the Hessians turned their backs and booed while clutching their tour books, it was a pretty good show actually.
I was a fan of Queensryche when Chris DeGarmo was with them.
ReplyDeleteWorked with Chris’ brother at one of the Navy facilities in WA. Cool guy.
DeleteThis album is a masterpiece. By my way of thinking, the best concept album of all time; with The Wall a close second.
ReplyDeleteI remember hearing them in '82. Been a fan ever since.
ReplyDeleteStill one of my favorite albums of all time, and this is one of the better tracks on it. Eyes of a Stranger is even better, and quite haunting.
ReplyDeleteSaw them in the 80’s.
ReplyDeleteBig Talent
This album, in my opinion, is without a doubt the best concept album ever recorded. The story line and the characters along with the message is spot on. We just saw them in St. Petersburg, Fl about 2 weeks ago. Another excellent show. We got to see them do Operation Mindcrime 15 years after its release when they toured doing the whole album since the release. Best show ever. They had a crew of actors playing the roles of Nikki, Sister Sarah and Dr.X. They were WAY ahead of their time with their real world observations back in the 80's! Anyone that doesn't have this CD is missing out, it's pure rock n roll art and storytelling.
ReplyDeleteOops, should be Sister Mary
ReplyDeleteSaw them do it front to back during the Building Empires tour in early 90s. Freaking awesome and loud, lost some hearing at that one.
