Chinese Junk

No ,  not that kind, this kind.

I was hosing off the tractor, after being out in the mud, and dropped the hose to go adjust the

bucket tilt. Suddenly I got soaked. It's in the 40s and the well water is cold as well. I grabbed the

twist nozzle thinking it was loose and that opened it up even more. Grumbling foul language,

I came in and got changed.  Looks like some child labor ran the bore right out to the minor

diameter of the male thread and full depth to the cast neck section.

It's paper thin.  Needless to say , QC, was probably on vacation as well.

...and for those that may think this is a stupid post. IT is. Those that want to get a chuckle at

my expense please feel free.

Enjoy your Sunday evening.

  1. Sir, I can feel you pain. I too have encountered this sort of lack of quality many times. For some reason, all my "things" that are "Made in Germany" still function today.

  2. My hats off to you sir, I have finally learned after too many years of buying the cheaper chink shit, just spend the extra few dollars for quality American made products.

    1. When and if you can find American made that is.

  3. LOL American Made? Norton please point out your supplier.

That vast majority of American Made is made in China and "Assembled" in America of Chinese parts.

But on the positive side the Chinese CAN make high quality stuff IF HELD to the Contract.

Look at EVERY Cellphone in America as an example.

    1. You've got to hunt for it but American made is still out there. I recently bought a chainsaw mill. I got a Granberg, built in California. Even though ALL the reviews were pimping the crappy Chinese version hardcore! Also, you've got to be careful you don't get burned by a legacy company that uses Mexican factories. They're not much better than the chinesium stuff... Estwing hammers come to mind.

  5. Did it get cold enough to freeze? Looks like it split from being iced up.

    1. Interesting thought. I didn’t think of that. I’m usually pretty good about draining the hoses and nozzles. This shut off was at the end of the hose and the nozzle. I guess if they were both closed at the first freeze back when it could have weakened it. Interesting CSI work Grissom. Irish.

  7. Having worked 6+ years in getting QC up to standards with material being made in China for U.S. market, even the best foundries in the 90s produced about 40% useless junk. If you did not perform QC in China, that stuff ended up in the container heading here, where you would have to scrap it after paying both for material and freight. Apparently things have not changed that much and/or their manufacturing is going into decline due to reduced demand so they go back to the old ways. Always inspect before you buy if made in China or try to find alternate sources..

  8. I have a shoebox full of these hose couplings that don't work or leak like a sieve - have now gone back to the (sometimes cranky but usually respond to maintenance) American brass twist nozzles from 40 years ago.
To quote our 3rd favorite (p)resident. "I feel your pain". Happy food raising.

  10. I am a multiple victim of the same brand. They look like brass but are not. They are the best looking Chinese crap out there compared to other brands. Have broken quite a few over the last 4 years. It is sickening. FUCKING chinese shit

  12. Yeah... Well water... Cold... Wet...
Screw that crap! I'd a been cussing like a sailor and throwing stuff over that one. I've put up with a lot of crappy circumstances but getting sprayed with cold water is the game ender for me.

  13. I feel your pain. Mine was the connecting hose from the wall to the toilet tank, which spontaneously blew out at about 10PM, thankfully on a night I was home.
Otherwise would have come home to Lake Aesop, and fire department kicking in the door.
Another piece of ass-tatstic chinesium like yours was the culprit.
There is no word in Chinese for "quality control".
Pretty sure that department is entitled "good enough for dumbass yankee dogs".

  14. Great economic strategy by the chinese. They make to break and the public returns to purchase another “bargain”. Sez, 1st ANGLICO

  15. Poor Quality control is not just a Chinese problem. It happens here as well.
Let me tell you a story about QC.
Long time ago, my town had 2 canning companies. The people that make the cans they put beer in.
My friend had a QC job that required 8 hours of Overtime 5 days a week. 16 hour days. 8 of them at time and half.
His job was to sit on a stool and monitor the assembly line that was making lids for beer can.s. Every 5 minutes or so, he'd pull a lid out of the line and see if the tab opener worked. That was it. His total responsibility. For this, he was making a ton of money.
He and I and another buddy went on a fishing trip to Beltsville Reservoir. Had a cooler full of beer in cans. Out on the lake in the hot sun. We finally decided it was time for a cold one. Turns out the beer used the very same company my buddy worked for.
NOT ONE OF THOSE PULL TABS WORKED!!
    We threw him overboard.
