  2. Kinda like the old Datsuns. I've seen quite a few of those with plywood floorboards in my day.
The drive train would outlast the body every time.

  3. And would you want to share the road with that thing?
Imagine how poor the brakes must be if the rest of it is in such poor condition....
Kudos to them for keeping it going, but at some point it becomes unsafe.

    2. Yeah...NO.
Like most of the Turd World, if they worked as hard at fixing it right as they do at bubba-rigging it, it'd be a serviceable truck.
As it is, I'm looking at a cab where every third driver loses a leg, and one day the whole cab bursts into flames spontaneously, everyone bails out, and it takes out a schoolbus full of kids. Who can't get out because they've rigged the emergency exit like those idiots did the doors in that rusted p.o.s.

Hereabouts, every time the CHP does unannounced truck inspections at highway choke points, 1 in 4 trucks fail basic safety checks for things like brakes. More than half are masterpieces roughly similar to this p.o.s., let in from Meh-hee co.

Blow retards like this up on the spot, and save lives by the gajillion.

  16. Not sure whether to cheer or blanche...if they know enough to keep that running why not just maintain it in the first place. I know Africa

  20. Having spent a month in west Africa, in places the tourists don’t go, I can tell you that rigs like this are all you see on the roads. They take the absolute worst POS Renault from France, and its instantly the nicest taxi in Mali. Next time I see Africa I hope it’s through a bombsight.

  21. I don't think you guys are understanding what is happening here. They had zero money for a vehicle - zero money to get it running - zero money for maintenance - unlimited access to the garbage dump (not a scrap yard, we're talking dump) They did what they could to find a way to make the equivalent of $1 to buy food for the next day. Most of us don't understand living like this. They aren't doing this to save a few bucks. This is survival, and we may want to prep our mindset for this. They believe they are living like kings because they don't have to carry everything on their back at the end of the day. 90%+ of their neighbors aren't so lucky.
