No there isn’t. The hydraulic lever is secured by a chain. (On the ones I’ve seen) if it’s not, road vibrations can knock it in the raise position. It wasn’t designed to be operated by morons. But here we are!
You would be amazed how many repairs I have done over the years to bridge beams and girders hit by trucks. Always an 'emergency' repair, so we got paid really good. DOT pass the cost to insurance company.
Seen that shit in person before, just not traveling at highway speeds. Twice. The first one was dump truck trying to go beneath an underpass and got stuck, I was standing directly over it as it went under and felt it. the second was a Drop Box truck going across the parking lot into the wash bay with the bed up and clobbered the roll up door, bending the steel doorway along with it. I gotta admit though the one in the video is MUCHO impressive.
Nah, that's gotta be on purpose. You can feel it when it is up that high. The wind buffeting and the vibration will clue you that something is amiss, the mirrors will affirm it. Not an accident.
We passed a refuse hauler on the interstate - it was not carrying a container but the lift part was raised. I told my wife that looked dangerous since it was just inches off the road and hoped he wouldn't hit a bump! The next day when I went into work my receptionist asked if I'd heard about the guy that was killed when his truck hit the bridge! That bridge was a couple of miles from where we had passed him! We felt terrible - will make sure if I ever see another one raised like that I'll get in front of the truck and try to stop it! Every time we go under that bridge I think back about the poor driver and his family!
The road sign said Trois-Rivieres so it is definitely in Quebec. It would be simple to have a warning buzzer if the bed was up and a preset speed were exceeded. Al_in_Ottawa

I went looking for "bed up" warning lights and I believe they are mandatory in Quebec. Unless the proposal was never enacted.
