UPDATED STORY: Drugs can make you think stuff like that
A month ago today I posted a story about the supposed crystal Methodist above who was basically "SWATED" by a relative due to his mental health (code terminology used often times for "running it up too hard" while using drugs). The guy is now dead. A lawsuit has been filed in Walker County against the Sheriff's office. An employee at SO claims she was fired by the WCSO for filming the alleged mistreatment of the of the guy while he was in custody and has also filed suit according to the story. I am not implying the allegations are true, I am simply posting the news report. I will say that nobody deserves to be mistreated while in custody. These powerful allegations state the man was tased and died from hypothermia as a result of being kept naked in a freezer while incarcerated the Walker County Jail in addition to other things forms of mistreatment. If the story turns out to be true, there should be a reckoning for all involved. Read the story HERE.
It would be great if everyone involved got to go on an ass pounding vacation sponsored by the state of Alabama for an indefinite time

Bless the guard who came forward, too bad was not earlier, feel she needs to keep her head on a swivel.
ReplyDeleteSome of those arrestees are not nice people, and their behavior while in custody provokes retaliation. I’m not saying it is right, only that it is understandable. Many years ago, the police in NYC had a 26 year old 6’5” powerfully built black guy in custody. When the police went to his cell to move him for processing, he started beating on the cop who was tasked with cuffing him for transport. Soon 5 other officers joined in, and for a while, this one guy was taking on six officers. At some point, the prisoner’s heart gave out and he died. He was also pretty badly beaten as were the police. But back then, the attitude was too bad, so sad, and that should be a lesson not to resist and brawl with the police.
ReplyDeleteAfter Collin Ferguson was captured after killing several aboard a Long Island Railroad train, he was placed in custody of the Nassau County Sheriff. The sheriff’s deputies made sure that he was kept in an unheated jail cell and that he was doused with water. They also left him in the general population where other prisoners beat on him, while the guards turned a blind eye. In my opinion, he got what he deserved and his treatment should serve as a deterrent to those that would think of following in his footsteps to commit mayhem
As a physician, given the story as reported, the WCSO should be held liable for his death. The suspect was clearly not well, and thus, monitoring and care should have been a higher priority. This neglect would not be tolerated in an animal. Thin blue line strikes again.
ReplyDeleteAgreed. Un Fucking acceptable.

I'm humbled by this man and ashamed of myself. When he was served up to the internet as another florida-man-type story weeks ago, I laughed at him saying to myself "Drugs are bad!" and moved on to the next entertaining headline. Now I see that this man was beyond simply having a bad day which got shared with everyone on the internet. He was having the last day of his life thanks to cruel and inhumane captors. And his treatment is more sad evidence of the moral rot and decay that is going on everywhere. Let me be reminded of this, the next time I see another crazy headline and am tempted to laugh at the person. And also let me be reminded that the greatest threat to my physical safety statistically comes from the many cops I pass by every single day. React the wrong way, say the wrong thing to one of them, and I could easily find myself suffering the same fate as this man. I am more fearful of cops, than I am of the tons of homeless and sketchy people I encounter. And I'm just a middle class Joe, which should tell cops how far they have fallen in public esteem.
ReplyDeleteJesus, look at the 2 fat sacks of shit hiding behind their tin stars! That's our "best and brightest"? We're so fucking fucked.
ReplyDeletePraying for his family and that real justice is served to all involved in this hideous criminal act. Including the lying ass wipe sheriff. Lawmen my ass. I’m from a couple counties away and honestly am not surprised.
