I'm almost 100% certain that poor kid has hypothyroidism type 2 (HT2). See how he looks puffy. That's myxedema. The diagnosis can be easily confirmed by taking his basal/resting temperature. He needs to get on iodine and thyroid (real not synthetic) right away. HT2 is genetic and is inherited. One if not both of his parents also have HT2. At a minimum he's going to suffer with low energy, being overweight, and brain fog the rest of his life. If he has any siblings they probably have it too.
For anybody that struggles with being overweight, has low energy, brain fog/etc, I highly recommend the book "Hypothyroidism Type 2" by Dr. Mark Starr. A used copy on Amazon is only a few dollars. You can get lugols iodine (Dr. Starr recommends 3 drops/day applied topically) and raw thyroid (Dr. Starr recommends 150-300 mg/day) from Vitacost. I find that lower doses more frequently is the best. I take 100mg every 8 hours. Iodine cravings are a lot like vitamin C cravings. If you've every had huge cravings for potato chips, that's probably a craving for the iodine in the salt.

He may have been born without a DL but if he don't get a haircut, a diet and a few thousand situps, he gonna die a virgin...
