A few years back, I bought one of these bore scopes. We had mice chew through some wires and short
out a light and outlet. Before tearing everything apart I used this to get a look behind the wall.
Link it to the Ipad and it works good enough, not great, to see in areas through a 3/8 hole.
I'll see if I can get it to look in the area between the bottom of the tank and the skid plate.

ReplyDeleteI once forgot to replace a kick return spring after taking apart a motorcycle engine...which meant I had to physically move the damn kick lever back to upright after every damn Kickstart. Oh good lord, how that bugged me. I finally yanked the motor apart again, just to put the damn spring back where it was supposed to be.
Trust me, that's a mistake you only make once...
If you have one of those flexible grabbing tools you can glue a magnet to the or (I recommend a mini neodymium); or you can just buy one. I've seem them in both Home Depot and True value, & Amazon definitely has them.

ReplyDeleteAt the end of the day, you'll be taking the skidplate off. Take a breath, mutter a curse, get a sixpack and some wrenches.
Plumbing grabber for sinks. Put the magnet in the grabber.

ReplyDeletePull the skid plate. It’ll take less time, be less hassle and you won’t drop the frappin thing into a place you can’t get to. Take it from a guy who HAS to go find anything that gets dropped in an airplane. ( It’ll give ya a chance to get all the pea gravel that’s accumulated in there too.)
