Rainy day working in the shop, Sea Level Greatest Hits will follow up with some Tucker. Elm logs in the wood stove giving me that nice low heat. I can taste the evening bourbon already.
Does anybody remember the Rare Earth live album one whole side of which was the song "Get Ready"? My brother had that album and we must have worn it out. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=K94ljpjkChY
Still got it!! Play it often. Had the 8 track version in the 'cuda during high school. Turned a lot of people on to them. Great stuff. Thanks for the memories Mikey.
Way back when, it woulda been John Denver (don't judge!) through a Kenwood amp with a built-in timer to kill the power so I wouldn't have to get out of bed to turn it off. Nowadays- Justin Johnson making some Delta Blues. On youtube. I still have the stereo system I got overseas in '76-ish.
Leigh, I never really listened to FFDP until I stumbled across their compilation with Kenny Wayne Shephard, Brantley Gilbert, and Brian May. Love the KWS version; this one was pretty good too.
Liz Story, Solid Colors. Alex De Grassi, Slow Circle. Mark Isham, Vapor Drawings. William Ackerman, The Search for the Turtles Navel, and The Bricklayer's Beautiful Daughter.
"Once the religious, the hunted and weary Chasing the promise of freedom and hope, Came to this country to build a new vision, Far from the reaches of kingdom and pope!"
A rotation of Chicago II, Mozart Requiem, Beethoven 7th-2nd movement, Mannheim Steamroller-Fresh Aire II, Jethro Tull, Crest of a Knave, Kansas-Point of no Return, Alan Parsons-Try Anything Once and Freudiana, Brubeck-Take 5, Miles Davis- Some kind of Blue, Little River Band-Greatest hits...
Bear, there is a chain BBQ joint called Mission BBQ and I am lucky enough to have one relatively close. They donate to lots of causes involving first responders, military, etc. Every day at noon inside the restaurant, everyone stands and they play the National Anthem. It might seem a little hokey to some, but I never get tired of showing patriotism.
Irish, the older I am, the more music I like. It could be Pink Floyd, AC/DC, Van Halen, Kansas, or Sammy Hagar. It could be Zac Brown, Luke Brian, Brad Paisley, or Blake Shelton. It could be Kenny Chesney or Jimmy Buffett. It could be Kenny Wayne Shepherd or Joe Bonamassa. Could even be classical strings or some instrumental progressive metal. Love it all.
I listened. Very interesting. My description is the offspring of a Rapper and The Rippingtons. :) Good music though. Still cannot make me like RAP. I could listen to that music for sure. Not the words. Just me though.
Joe Walsh, Pink Floyd, Neil Diamond live, Thin Lizzy live, The Motor City Madman...and so many more. You should do a "last vinyl album you owned" when you graduated to cassettes. I had 8 tracks also but I was still doing vinyl at the same time.
The Doors, J Geils Band, Steely Dan, Led Zeppelin, The Who, C S N &Y, The Kinks, Lou Reed, Van Morrison, Bonnie Raitt, Joni Mitchell....I could go on and on......
Lynyrd Skynyrd, Pink Floyd or B.B. King.

ReplyDeleteTHANKS to all the musical choices. There are many I have never heard of and will have to check them out.
ReplyDeleteAll of the above if I had the albums spotify since I don't.
ReplyDeleteThat dial is set to a classic country station when the radio is on in the truck. National Anthem everyday at noon. Church music on Sunday morning.
