Luckily the Russians aren't up to the task of taking a second/third world country. They apparently didn't learn or have forgotten the lessons of Afghanistan. They are now asking the Chinese to resupply them with hardware and ammo as the Ukrainians are kicking the Russians asses using Javelins and Stingers. I think the Russians will end up prevailing, eventually, however they will pay a very heavy price.
I have no idea what the Chinese capabilities are. It's been over 70 years since they fought a war against an equal or superior force and they got their asses handed to them by the Japanese. To be fair, back then China didn't really have an army and certainly not a trained one. India has been kicking Chinese ass in the border skirmishes that have been going on for a decade or more. However quantity(of troops and/or equipment) has a quality all its own.
As an example, look at tanks of WWII. The Germans had over all superior tanks to everyone. However the Russians concentrated on armoring theirs and producing them by the bunches. Same with the Sherman, although the Sherman wasn't that very well armored. We just had a pant load of them compared to the Germans. especially after Stalingrad and most especially Kursk. When you're going 3 on 1, there's always someone going in the back door while you're busy defending the front and sides. The back door is a tank's second weakest point after the top. That's also where we learned the lesson of having a BFG on a tank. Nothing like being able to reach out a over a mile with accuracy and terminal devastation.
China's got all of this supposed hot new equipment, but if they don't know how to use it effectively. Pffft. There's no second chance on the war learning curve when your opponent has equal equipment and much better training. Their dead soldiers and airmen can't pass on the mistakes they make.

Nice post. I've been writing about the chip/Taiwan problem for weeks here and there. It's not JUST chips though. A major portion of the manufacturing capacity of this country has been outsourced to China over the last 40 years. Not only does that export affect WHERE products come from, it also affects the know how/show how of the population from which that manufacturing capacity was exported.
One of the questions that should have been asked of the Chamber of Commerce as they've been advocating for globalization of the U.S. manufacturing industry is: Who's going to build our next tank or fighter plane when the skills to do that work no longer exist on U.S. soil?
As to Milley, Trump fooked up with that guy. As Sun Tzu says(I'm not sure this is the exact quote but it conveys the meaning) When you are appointed the Commander, BE the Commander. When Trump found out that Milley was ignoring his order to draw down troops in Syria and Afghanistan, he should have ordered him to the Oval, ordered him to stand at attention and chewed him a new asshole, in front of witnesses, like the Director of the Secret Service. After the dressing down, he should stripped him of his rank badges and his phone and literally booted his ass out the front door of the White House and made him WALK back to the Pentagon. Someone probably told Trump he couldn't fire the guy which is BS. Even the far left moonbat FDR understood that power because he had a patriot, in the person of Adm. Waiting for an audience with Trump in the lobby of the Oval should have been the rest of the Joint Chiefs. He should have fired all of them also and he should have kept firing people until he found someone that came to attention and exclaimed Yes Sir! As to food/fertilizer, I've written about this too here and there. I connected the dots of food production when the second U.S. based fertilizer plant had a mysterious fire within a couple of weeks of the first one and the price of fertilizer went into orbit creating stories in the press about farmers planning to fallow fields or cut back on the extent of their planting because they couldn't afford fertilizer. Now add in the rising cost of fuel to run farm equipment and you have a perfect storm of reduced food availability. Then the question is why?
Practically the ONLY WAY to control a heavily armed country the size (physical and population) of the USA is to deny it food. I'm NOT talking about it being controlled from the outside. I'm talking about it being controlled by its OWN GOVERNMENT.
All of these issues that have raised their head with the pandemic and with the economy since Biden was installed are NOT separate problems. They are all linked in a plan to subjugate the U.S. population. The next step is relieving us of our firearms. That'll come when the dindu's start the food riots this fall and armed citizens start a vigilant force to protect their cities and towns from being burned to the ground. The chaos we witnessed last year was just a warm up for what's to come.
