    1. Reports say that is the USS Arkansas, the oldest US Battleship from World War II. She was reportedly tossed 50 feet in the air. Other reports say it not her. I think that's Test Baker, the underwater detonation. Test Able preceded it , and air-burst dropped from a B-29 that missed the target, which was the USS Nevada, painted bright orange as an aiming point...
But you know the old saying, "Close only counts with horse shoes, hand grenades and thermonuclear weapons"

  5. Spent 2 weeks there in 2004. It was all rebreather diving. I think it is only livaboard diving now.
Some of the best wreck diving in the world. Unforgettable huge ships. Lot's a Sharks there too. No diving past 4pm.

  7. Water bursts are particularly nasty, especially in salt water. First, huge local waves are generated. Secondly, the sodium in saltwater gets activated and gives off both a hard beta and then two hard gamma rays with something like a 15 hours half life.

The base fog spreads that crap all over the local area.

  8. I don't think we'll see that version here. It'll be more like the sun coming out at midnight, except brighter. God forbid.

  9. If they ever get fusion figured out the TPTB in the USA would end their petrodollar warmongering hegemony. May there be peace on Earth and goodwill towards men.

    1. Able was dropped from "Dave's Dream" at 32000 ft and detonated at 518 above the lagoon. It was 2130 ft off target (the Nevada) It popped closer to the Uss Gilliam smashing her downward to the sea floor and it looked to me like a giant's fist had punched her flat onto the sea floor.
Baker was suspended 90 ft sea level inside a watertight Cassion below LSM-60. the damage done from Baker was tremendous more than Able.
