I don't remember learning about this back when I was in school.
Mercator Projection mapping inflates the sizes of land masses away from the equator.
Here's an interesting article about the misconceptions of the Mercator map
and on this website, you can type in the name of a country and drag and drop it to compare
the size of it to other countries.

ReplyDeleteYep. That's why teachers back in the 1950s and 1960s showed us a flipping globe to illustrate the difference. The issue is not some plot by whatever supremacists, but more likely lazy "educators."

So here is a funny one for you. I am on my work computer, and I click on the link to Google maps to see how it has changed. It has several places I have been to marked as "favorites". So Google knows where you have been, and keeps track of that for "you" or perhaps someone who could have an interest in you.
