There's a whole biscuit of truth there... I used to live in WNY, I tell my neighbors now (in ETN), they need to understand, the folks 'up north' prattling on about mandates and big gov and all the things you and me hate? They believe it. Truthfully, honestly, in their heart and soul, they really and truly BELIEVE they know better, you're just ignorant, and we're going to do this for your own good wether you like it want it or not! They believe they are righteous and doing good in this world when they shove their beliefs down your throat against your wishes. They believe it to the point they're willing to kill you, and they will feel no sorrow over it. This is how it is up there, trust me, that's one reason I left!
